Thank you :)
We don't have much time left to earn ourselves some more miles towards our American day! We are still a long way off. However, last week we reached our highest score yet- 48% of children read at home at least 3 times. Let's keep up the good work!
Summer Term 1
Our topic this half term is 'In The Garden'. In science we are learning about plants. This will involve lots of growing experiments and trips to the allotments. Our art this term, will involve creating art from natural materials.
Our literacy will be based on stories associated with plants, growing and in the garden. We will also be covering the key grammar needed in year 1 & 2, along with spelling contractions and adding suffixes (ly & ful).
For geography we are comparing plants, habitats and life in the UK to deserts around the world. This will also involve our plants topic, as well looking at which animals live in the dessert, and what life is like in this hostile climate.
In maths is term we will completing lots of reasoning tasks. We will be working on questions such as: how many more, how do you know, and explain why. We will also be continuing with missing number sums.
In P.E this term we will be learning dance. We also have a weekly music lesson, computing lesson, layered reading session and a SEAL lesson.
In literacy, last term, we read these traditional tales- Three Little Pigs, Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood and Goldilocks and the Three Bears. These traditional tales inspired some fantastic writing from year 1/2! You can see this on our traditional tales display.
Last term, in maths, we covered: place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Take a look at some of our work!
This term we will continue these topics daily, through maths starters. Our new topics will be: shape, fractions, time and measurement. I look forward to sharing some pictures with you.
